Doodle Rehomes - Can you foster a doodle?!
Jane (owner of Henry and Luke) is becoming more and more involved
in doodle rescue. She has found that the number of doodles needing homes is increasing as the popularity of the breed increases.
This is more of an issue in the US than in Canada, but in any case there are more and more doodles needing homes. This happens
because some people don’t research the breed well enough, and find their allergies act up, the dogs have too much energy,
they get too big, etc. Jane has successfully rehomed/rescued several doodles from the New Hampshire rescue group in the Ottawa
area. Jane would like to be able to bring more doodles up from the US and find homes for them in Canada.
To help Jane continue this effort, she is looking for people who
might be willing to foster a doodle for a little while. If you are interested, please email Jane directly at doodledogrescue@rogers.com . It is her intention to start a list of potential foster families that she can
contact when she has a need.
Doodle Sitting Co-op
NOTE: I haven't forgotten this idea - just haven't had the time
to make it a reality. Sorry to those who were really excited. I'll just ask for a little more patience......
One of our members has suggested the creation of a doodle sitting co-op.
Finding good care for your doodle while you need to be away can be stressful and expensive. Who better to care for your
doodle than another doodle owner??
At this point I'm just gathering names of interested members - the details will
need to be worked out. But it will likely function like a baby-sitting co-op. Each member is given a number of
tokens. Each time they ask another member to doodle sit, they 'pay' them in tokens. Each member will receive a
contact list for other members. When in need of doodle sitting services they contact any of the members to ask.
There is no obligation to take in a doodle if it doesn't work for you! That is the beauty of a large group - you can
always try another member.
Please let me know if you are interested. Once we have an assessment of
the interest level, we will finalize details. Contact me at doodlover@goldendoodlestuff.com
